Construction site and job safety

No matter what your project is at this time of year, safety should always be your number one concern. The team at Strate Line Crane and Rigging has been highly trained in safety, and we hope that our residential customers will help us continue our excellent safety record. 

Whether you’re installing a new hot tub for the cooler fall nights, or completing work on a new deck, remember these top safety tips for keeping your construction crew and family safe:

1. Keep pets and little ones away. Children and animals are naturally curious, but a construction site is no place for them. Both children and pets can get into small areas without being seen, or get underfoot while crews are working, causing added stress and sometimes injuries. To make life easier for working crews, keep pets secured away from the construction site and always supervise children. 
2. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Make sure everyone on site knows what the goals are for the project, when machinery will be in use and what the protocol for the area is. If the entire crew is on the same page, it will minimize the chance for mistakes and injuries. 
3. Be weather aware. In the northwest, there is a saying: If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes. In all of our work outdoors through Montana, Idaho, Washington and across the northwest, we’ve found this to be true. Know your area and the weather patterns. Be aware of the blazing sun (and wear sunscreen) or high winds (keep gear sheltered and weighted down).
